How to Recover and Import Your TurboTax ItsDeductible Data
If you saved an ItsDeductible export—or need to request your data from Intuit first—this guide shows how to recover the records and bring the usable data into ItsDeducted without rebuilding your donation history by hand.

On this page
Start with the ItsDeductible record you actually have
Intuit discontinued ItsDeductible on October 21, 2025. For this migration, the important question is not what the old service used to do; it is what data you still have access to now.
Saved data
You already have an export, spreadsheet, or copied list
Work from a copy of the cleanest file you have. CSV, XLS, XLSX, and simple pasted lists can all provide a usable starting point for import.
No saved export
Request your personal data from Intuit first
In your Intuit Account, open Data privacy, choose Download, submit the request, and look for the ItsDeductible data inside the SharedData subfolder when the download is ready.
Allow time for recovery: Intuit says personal-data download requests can take up to 15 days. If you still have a local spreadsheet or export, you do not need to wait for a second copy before preparing that saved file.

Prepare the usable rows before you import
You do not need to recreate the old ItsDeductible database format. The goal is to get the useful donation information into a simple structure that ItsDeducted can turn into reviewable records.
Simple list
Paste item name, condition, and quantity
This is the fastest route when the source is a copied list or a lightweight spreadsheet and you mainly need the item rows brought forward.
Structured file
Upload CSV, XLS, or XLSX
Use file upload when the donation history already lives in columns. If the spreadsheet already contains values you want to keep, retain a Value column so those saved values can be preserved for review.
The full How Donation List Import Works page is the canonical guide to the product workflow. This migration article only covers the extra decisions that matter when the source is old ItsDeductible data.
How to recover and import your ItsDeductible records
- 1
Recover or gather the source records
Use an export or spreadsheet you already saved. If you do not have one, submit Intuit’s personal-data download request and locate the ItsDeductible data in SharedData when it arrives.
- 2
Choose paste or file upload
Paste a straightforward item list when you only need a few columns. Upload CSV, XLS, or XLSX when the source already has a useful spreadsheet structure.
- 3
Keep a Value column when saved values matter
If the old spreadsheet includes values you want to retain, keep or add a Value column before upload. That lets the imported record preserve those values rather than replacing them automatically.
- 4
Import, then review the matches
ItsDeducted uses AI-assisted matching to turn imported rows into organized donation items. Review item names, condition, quantity, and values before you save the finished donation record.
- 5
Keep the original file
Treat the imported donation as a working record, not a reason to discard your source. Keep the old export, spreadsheet, Intuit download, and any receipts or supporting files with your records.
Know the current import limits before you start
ItsDeducted’s Free plan is enough to test a smaller migration. Larger or repeated imports are a Pro use case. The pricing page remains the source of truth for current plan details.
If you are migrating a large historical file, splitting it into artificial chunks just to fit the Free limit usually creates more cleanup than it saves. Use the Free import to validate the workflow; use Pro when the migration itself is larger.
Review the imported records before tax time
Import is a faster starting point, not an instruction to accept every field blindly. Check the item description, condition, quantity, charity and donation details, and any estimated or preserved values before you rely on the record later.
Imported structure
Keep the useful detail
The import workflow turns source rows into organized donation items so condition and quantity do not disappear into an unstructured note.
Valuation
Treat estimated FMV as a reviewable estimate
If ItsDeducted estimates fair market value for an imported item, review the result against the item you actually donated and the supporting information you have.
Keep the source record: an import makes the data easier to work with, but it does not replace the underlying export, receipt, photo, or other documentation you may want to retain.
If the file is messy, treat this as a migration—not a re-entry project
Old donation records are rarely perfect. Column names may be inconsistent, a personal-data download may not resemble the spreadsheet you remember, or several years may be mixed together. Clean the smallest amount necessary to create usable rows, then let the import workflow do the repetitive part.
If you are unsure which file to use or need help turning an old record into a workable import, contact the ItsDeducted team before spending hours retyping it manually.
